Towards a Tailored Engineering Design Process for Individualized Micro-Mechatronic Systems with a Novel Case-Based Methodology

The development and manufacturing of high-precision micro-mechatronic systems (MMS) is a challenging task, the high demand for individualized products complicates engineering design process (EDP) in particular. established EDP MMS not designed products. This article gives an overview challenges (critical factors) product (iMMS), novel definition iMMS, describes new qualitative methodology order to tailor based on use cases, so-called “Tailored EDP-Methodology” (TEDP-Methodology). TEDP-Methodology allows creating use-case-based groups through abstraction cases evaluating requirements, which essential or develop EDP. For this approach, literature review content analysis are prefaced. critically examined validated with real case study iMMS. shows critical points within It fields action innovative tools support iMMS requirements different has both theoretical practical implications.
